Dan Quinn is ready to see some improvement.
His Washington Commanders have been up in the odd weeks (one and three) and down in the even weeks (two and four). As a result, the Commanders won in weeks one and three and lost in weeks two and four.

“You want to see improvement,” began Quinn on Friday. “I think your team should get better as it’s going. That doesn’t mean one game. It means just improvement. Improvement (using his right hand to demonstrate trending upward). So I don’t put a timeline on it, per se. But I do want to see us sharpening and getting better. I think if you watch around the league. You know, through games, how close they are. I think through the first quarter of the season, don’t quote me on that, but you know almost 70% of the games (are won) within the fourth quarter, that’s the game. Knowing how to navigate those spots and nail them. That’s why we spend so much time on the end-of-the-game moments. I told them, it will likely be another one this week.”
Commanders fans will recall that six games during the 2024 season were won by the Commanders in the final possession (against the NY Giants, Chicago, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Dallas). Then, in the opening round of the playoffs, the Commanders again drove down the field in their last possession, kicking a walk-off field goal to defeat Tampa Bay.
“You know, we’d have to prepare for when the air gets thin; we are at our best,” said Quinn.

The Commanders will need to undergo some serious preparation for this Sunday’s game against the Chargers. They will be without Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown. Frankly, we don’t yet know how Deebo Samuel’s heel will hold up, having been held out of practice this week. Daron Payne appears to have been injured against the Falcons as well and has been limited at times this week.
