Per TMZ, Fox Sports broadcaster Mark Sanchez was transported to a nearby hospital in Indianapolis on Saturday morning following a stabbing downtown. Sanchez was in the area of ahead of his duties to call the Week 5 contest between the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders.

Per TMZ:

“Police received a call around 12:30 AM Saturday morning to a street in downtown Indianapolis for two injured people … and one of the people was the former first-round draft pick. We’re told Sanchez was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. It’s unclear what led to the violent incident.”

On Saturday afternoon, Fox Sports PR released a statement and provided an update on Sanchez. He is now in stable condition.

“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” the statement reads. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”

Following news of the incident, prayers and wishes poured in from those connected to the NFL.

“Prayers for Mark Sanchez,” wrote Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

“Prayers with Mark Sanchez,” wrote ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

“Man… Prayers up for my guy and USC brother Mark Sanchez. This is ridiculous!” posted Keyshawn Johnson.

The Jets selected Sanchez with the No. 5 pick in the 2009 draft. He played in New York through 2013 before stops with the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins. Sanchez, 38, appeared in 79 games and started 73, throwing for 12,092 yards, 68 touchdowns and 69 interceptions.

Sanchez began working for Fox in 2021.
