Chris Boswell is one of the best kickers to ever play in the league — but if you ask Pittsburgh Steelers legend James Harrison, he might take some credit.
On Friday’s episode of the Deebo & Joe podcast, Harrison shared with Joe Haden why he believes he’s responsible for Boswell’s successful career — pointing to one interaction between the two that pushed Boz to the next level.

“I made that boy the greatest kicker alive,” Harrison said. “You want to know how I did it? I told that boy if he missed that field goal, he’s gonna wash my back in the shower. I scared him to greatness. You’re welcome, baby. I don’t even need no thank you — no appreciation. I don’t need it. Between you and me, and everybody else in the world, we know. We know, I made you who you are.”
Harrison was clearly joking, having fun at the expense of one of the greatest kickers of all time — as Boswell also retold the exact same hilarious (and frightening) story this past January.
While Harrison’s comments may have played a role early in Boswell’s tenure, it was his impressive blend of reliability, power, and accuracy that cemented his legacy among the all-time greats — truly befitting of the Wizard of Boz title.
