Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott praised New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye this week, as the Bills and Patriots get ready to clash on Sunday Night Football.

Maye appears to be right in the middle of a second-year leap, and he’ll be looking to further establish the Patriots as legitimate contenders for the AFC East throne. McDermott is admittedly “very impressed” by what he’s seen from Maye to this point.

So even though the Bills have maintained a stranglehold over the division, they won’t be overlooking the Patriots with a quarterback as talented as Maye under center.

“Very impressed. Even last year when he was a first-year player in our league, there’s probably not much that he can’t do,” McDermott said on Maye, when speaking with media members. “He can throw it, he can run it, he can scramble with it. They’ve got quarterback-designed runs. …He’s off to a great start. I’m sure they feel good about him as an organization as well.”

The Patriots have to be pleased with the way that Maye has started the season. He is cementing himself as the team’s franchise quarterback and one of the best young signal-callers in the league.

Sunday’s game against the Bills could be the biggest test he’s faced so far in his young career.
