The Minnesota Vikings announced Saturday they have signed Freedom-Woodbridge graduate Vershon Lee to their 53-man roster.

Lee will back up starting center Blake Brandel at center for the Vikings’ game Sunday in London against the Cleveland Browns.

A rookie from the University of South Carolina, Lee made the Vikings’ practice squad out of training camp.

Lee was moved to the 53-man roster to help Minnesota deal with depth issues on the offensive line due to injuries.

Lee was not drafted out of college. But the Vikings brought him in for a tryout June 12. Minnesota then signed Lee the following day.

The Vikings had hosted Lee for a top 30 visit before the draft.

A two-time all-state lineman at Freedom, Lee appeared in 51 games at South Carolina with 40 starts.
