The 1-3 Miami Dolphins are facing the 1-3 Carolina Panthers in Week 5 without star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who is done for the season after suffering a devastating knee injury.
In his absence, several Dolphins players will have to step up and are primed for larger roles.
With plenty of extra targets from Tua Tagovailoa to be divided among the other targets on the option, which Miami playmaker is the best bet to find the end zone Sunday? Here’s our pick:
Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook
Jaylen Waddle anytime TD scorer: +140
Waddle has two touchdowns this season, which already matches his 2024 total. Now he faces a Panthers defense that has given up just two touchdowns to wide receivers through four games.
However, with Hill’s absence, Waddle will be a focal point for Tagovailoa and Miami’s offense. The last time Waddle was the main option, when Hill sat out a 2023 game against the New York Jets, he was targeted nine times and caught eight passes, including a touchdown.
The Panthers will have to pay plenty of attention to running back De’Von Achane as well as veteran tight end Darren Waller. That should mean Waddle has opportunities to make some big plays and get into the end zone.
