Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will miss his first game since the 2023 season after he missed his third straight practice on Friday ahead of Week 5 against the Texans. It was Cooper Rush taking first-team snaps at quarterback with Jackson among seven players not participating.
Jackson was tackled while carrying the football in the second half and, upon returning to the bench, slammed his helmet down in frustration. The injury happened after Baltimore had already lost Jackson (hamstring), left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle), middle linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring), and cornerback Marlon Humphrey (calf).

Adam Schefter opened Sunday’s NFL Countdown by reporting that Jackson could miss Week 6 against the Rams, and with Baltimore having a bye in Week 7, Jackson could rest until preparation begins for a Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears.
The Ravens are 1-3 and badly need a win over the Texans in Week 4, and the missed practice came after Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun reported that Jackson could miss multiple weeks, as he holds out hope for playing on Sunday.
Jackson exited Sunday’s loss 14-20, passing for 147 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and an 86.9 rating, with 48 rushing yards. Rush replaced an injured Dak Prescott (hamstring) from Week 11 on, tossing 12 touchdowns and four interceptions while averaging only 6.1 yards per attempt.

In Sunday’s loss, Rush was 9 of 13 passing for 52 yards in relief of Jackson.
