The Arizona Cardinals must change how they handle their running backs this week. James Conner and Trey Benson are both on injured reserve. Conner will miss the rest of the season. Benson is out four to six weeks.

With Michael Carter, Emari Demercado and Bam Knight left to handle the load, how will the roles be split?

We will know more when the Cardinals play the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon, but ESPN’s Adam Schefter gave some clarity as to how the Cardinals plan to deploy their backs.

He said that the Cardinals will lean on Carter on first and second downs, and that Demercado would continue in the third-down/passing-down role he has held before.

For those in fantasy leagues, that means you will see Carter have more rushing opportunities. Demercado’s value is unchanged over last season, although greater than before last week.
