The Minnesota Vikings head into their much-needed Bye Week with a record of 3-2. The team could easily have been 4-1 had a late comeback attempt against the Steelers had not come up short. Regardless, the team has momentum heading into a big-time matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7.
Despite all that success, there will still be a change, most likely when they play the Eagles.

Carson Wentz has been playing the last two weeks while J.J. McCarthy has been dealing with his ankle injury. The offense was struggling in the first two games with McCarthy as they were missing some key pieces, such as Christian Darrisaw and Jordan Addison. Wentz had the benefit of playing with them, while McCarthy has not, and that has to be taken into account when evaluating them.
While there is going to be more scrutiny around McCarthy when he comes back, people will also be impatient and looking for a change the minute something goes wrong.
In two games, McCarthy completed 58.5% of his passes while throwing for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. Meanwhile, Wentz has completed 69% of his passes while accumulating 759 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. The production is a 180 under Wentz and may create a discussion, but they need to see how McCarthy does with Darrisaw and Addison at his disposal.
Until then, no change is needed; this is J.J. McCarthy’s team.
