The Wapello High School football team clinched its first playoff appearance in three years with a 40-27 victory over rival Columbus in a Class A District 5 game Friday at Carl “Mac” McGill Field in Wapello.

Senior quarterback Rowen Atkinson completed 6-of-18 passes for 124 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 51 yards on 12 carries for the Indians.

Justyn Faulkner caught four passes for 69 yards and three touchdowns and returned a fumble 31 yards for another score for the Indians.

Edgar Vazquez rushed for 66 yards on 15 carries and Kendyn Lanz caught a 31-yard scoring pass for the Indians.

Angel Inchein rushed for 115 yards on nine carries and scored two touchdown for the Wildcats, while Tyson Kaalberg rushed fr 114 yards on 15 carries and scored a touchdown. Lamar Ceant caught two passes for 96 yards and a touchdown. Trevor Phillips completed 5-of-7 passes for 118 yards and one score.

MOUNT PLEASANT 61, FORT MADISON 0

The Panthers rolled up 447 yards of offense to douse the Bloodhounds in a Class 3A District 4 game at Richmond Stadium in Fort Madison.

Ryan Helling rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown for the Panthers, while Ramzy Davis rushed for 114 yards on five carrires and a touchdown. Griffen Jones rushed for 65 yards and scored two touchdowns.

Grayson Walker completed 9-of-11 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns, while Charlie Syfert threw a 27-yard scoring pass to Carter Gehling. Kaden Schadt, Brody Clark and Merrick Lamm each caught touchdown passes.

MID-PRAIRIE 56, CENTRAL LEE 0

The Golden Hawks held the Hawks to 190 total yards in a Class 2A District 5 game at Donnellson.

Peter Seyb rushed for 71 yards on 16 carries for the Hawks. Brett Cook rushed for 34 yards and Connor Boyd rushed for 33 yards for the Hawks.

W-MU 50, HLV 34

Cody Milks threw for 250 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 49 yards and a score and Max Edwards hauled in nine passes for 111 yards and a score to lead the Wolves to an 8-Player District 5 game at Victor.

Nicholas Sparrow rushed for 94 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Wolves, while Colin Anderson caught six passes for 84 yards and two scores.

ENGLISH VALLEYS 54, WACO 52

The Bears held on to down the Warriors in a wild 8-Player District 5 game at Wayland.

Hayden Shelman completed 3-of-9 passes for 25 yards and rushed for 164 yards on 17 carries, including scoring runs of 51, 34 and 20 yards, to lead the Warriors.

Trey Edeker rushed for 127 yards on 15 carries, including scoring runs of 5 and 60 yards.

Niles Reichenbach rushed for 103 yards on nine carries and had touchdown runs of 38 and 11 yards. He also caught four passes for 28 yards.

Sam Meyer recovered a fumble for the Warriors.

WEST CENTRAL 26, GALVA 18

Graham Kelly rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns and Cooper Gibbs ran for 100 yards and two scores to lead the Heat to an Illinois 8-Player West victory over Galva at Biggsville, Illinois.

Cameron Robinson rushed for 19 yards for the Heat, while Colton Spence rushed for seven yards and threw for seven yards and converted a pair of two-point tries.

West Central (5-1 overall, 4-0 West) travels to play Flanagan (4-2, 3-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at Flanagan.
