Giving away two wins and a chance to start the season 4-0 is no way to go into a bye week. Alas, here are the Green Bay Packers, sitting at 2-1-1 and technically in second place in the NFC North after their week five bye, which saw the other two active teams in the division win their games over AFC North opponents.
One, the Minnesota Vikings, beat the Browns, the team to whom the Packers lost two weeks ago. The other, the Detroit Lions, walloped the team up next on Green Bay’s schedule. That game against the Cincinnati Bengals is a bit less exciting of a matchup now than it looked before Joe Burrow’s injury, but it provides the Packers with a prime opportunity as a get-right game at home coming out of a week off.
Hopefully the bye came at a good time to help get the offensive line back towards full health. That unit has been a major problem with several key players missing time in recent weeks, so hopefully Aaron Banks, Anthony Belton, and Zach Tom will be on their way back as the days move forward this week towards Sunday’s game.
Additionally, this weekend was the first opportunity for the Packers’ new team president to go through a Q&A during the season, so let’s see what Ed Policy has to say.
