What a win. What a comeback.

The Denver Broncos entered the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles trailing 17-3. Denver then scored 18 unanswered points in a 21-17 upset win. It was an impressive performance, and the team overcame incredible odds to pull it off.

During the broadcast, CBS displayed a stat that said the Broncos were 1-112 in franchise history when trailing by 14 or more points on the road entering the fourth quarter. That record is now 2-112.

“The thing we did was when you play someone like that, you’re going to get punched and it’s not going to be easy,” coach Sean Payton said after the game. “But we kept fighting and that’s what I was most encouraged about, just the fight, the grit. And then you felt that this is a funny thing that momentum shifted and when that happened, it’s pretty powerful.”

The last time Denver pulled off a win after trailing by 14 points on the road entering the fourth was 2011. That season, the Broncos were down 15-0 against the Miami Dolphins, then they scored 18 unanswered in an 18-15 win. Déjà vu: Tim Tebow led two touchdown drives and converted a two-point conversion in that fourth-quarter comeback win. Bo Nix also led two touchdown drives and picked up a two-point conversion on Sunday.

After beating the Eagles in Philadelphia, the Broncos took an overnight flight to England ahead of their Week 6 showdown with the New York Jets in London on Oct. 12.
