There were plenty of outstanding performances over the weekend in Central Mass. football. Jennifer Toland picked a few of the best for readers to vote on to decide the Hometeam Football Player of the Week.
Congratulations to Littleton’s Jake Taglieri for taking the top spot in last week’s poll, edging Oakmont’s David Roy in a tight race. Taglieri recorded 9,044 votes (36 percent) to top Roy’s 8,366 votes (33.3 percent) and Lunenburg’s Rory Ferguson (5,570 votes) in a poll of over 25,000 votes cast.

Jordan Baumann, Narragansett
The junior carried 4 times for 102 yards and a touchdown and had 5 receptions for 99 yards in the Warriors’ win over Athol.
Brayden Belanger, Auburn
The junior rushed for six touchdowns, to bring his season total to 14, in the Rockets’ win over Northbridge.
Joshua Chavoor, St. Paul
The sophomore threw touchdown passes of 70 and 38 yards to help lead the Knights to a win over Worcester Tech.
Joel Chuku, Burncoat
The senior returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown in the Patriots’ loss to Millbury.
Ryan Davis, Grafton
The junior kicked two field goals, including the winning 35-yarder in the fourth quarter, to lift the Gators over Tantasqua Regional and give Wayne Page his first win as Grafton coach.
Liam Deso, St. John’s
The sophomore carried 15 times for 114 yards and a 38-yard TD in the Pioneers’ win over Shrewsbury.
Dylan Devine, Nashoba
The senior scored two rushing touchdowns and threw a 28-yard TD pass in the Wolves’ win over Maynard.
Logan Dome, Hudson
The junior threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another in the Hawks’ win over South.
Rory Ferguson, Lunenburg
In a win over Fitchburg, the senior was a two-way standout with 6 receptions for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns, a rushing TD, 6 tackles and a sack.
Gavin Forget, Leicester
The senior scored two touchdowns on a 31-yard reception and a 30-yard interception return to lead the Wolverines over Quabbin Regional. Forget had two interceptions in the game.
Tanner Gaffney, Wachusett
The junior had a school-record 100-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Mountaineers’ win over Minnechaug.
Joshua Giancola, Nipmuc
The senior completed 17 of 23 attempts for 161 yards and a touchdown and rushed for a TD in the Warriors’ loss to Medfield.
Owen Granger, David Prouty
The senior threw touchdown passes and rushed for a TD in the Panthers’ win over Ayer-Shirley.
Javian Huertas, Marlborough
In the Panthers’ win over Westborough, the senior scored two touchdowns, on a 90-yard fumble recovery return and a 5-yard rush.
Joel LaChapelle, Northbridge
The junior scored three rushing touchdowns in the Rams’ loss to Auburn.
Caleb LaFreniere, St. Bernard’s
The sophomore had touchdown throws of 50 and 65 yards and rushed for a pair of TDs in a win over Gardner.
Matteus Mateo, Millbury
The senior threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score to lead the Woolies past Burncoat.
Jack McNamara, Clinton
The sophomore had 7 tackles and 3 sacks to help power the Gaels’ defense in a win over Bay Path.
Owen Michalowski, Shrewsbury
The senior had a 98-yard kickoff return in the Colonials’ loss to St. John’s.
Shea Paxton, Uxbridge
The sophomore completed 8 of 12 passes for 203 yards and 4 touchdown in the Spartans’ win over Oxford.
Andre Perkins, Doherty
The sophomore rushed for three touchdowns in the Highlanders’ loss to Shepherd Hill.
Dominick Renzoni, West Boylston
The senior carried 15 times for 135 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Lions’ win over Valley Tech.
Devin Rowden, Shepherd Hill
The senior carried 16 times for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Rams’ win over Doherty.
Lawrence Smith, Bartlett
The senior rushed 17 times for 235 yards and a touchdown in the Indians’ win over Abby Kelley.
