Former Indianapolis Colts running back and free agent, Trey Sermon, is reportedly signing a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Sermon was with the Colts each of the last two seasons, and stepped into the primary backup role this past year.

On 56 rush attempts in 2024, Sermon averaged 2.8 yards per attempt with two touchdowns. He would also catch 16-of-18 passes for 99 yards, according to PFF.

Jonathan Taylor will, of course, continue to lead the way at running back for the Colts, but the depth chart behind him has been reshaped a bit. In free agency, GM Chris Ballard would sign Khalil Herbert, and he then selected DJ Giddens in the NFL draft.

Ballard would mention at the NFL combine earlier this offseason that the Colts needed more production from the backup running back roles behind Taylor this season.
