New Orleans Saints player Cam Jordan home burglarized during game last month

All right, everybody good. I can, I can go and get it off the phone if I need to. Uh, I got this call this morning off from one of the news agencies asking him about *** burglary that happened two weeks ago on September 14th, uh, involving Saints player Cam Jordan. Uh, his house was burglarized back, uh, during the San Francisco game. Um, you know, during the game itself, we ended up responding to that call that afternoon. I actually had *** deputy pretty much right in front of the house when his wife got home that night, set up *** perimeter, but the burglary had happened earlier in the day during the game itself. We ended up going out with our entire burglary team. And started camps in that neighborhood. The next morning we developed *** vehicle of interest that we thought may have been connected to the burglary itself. We’re able to track that vehicle being *** rental vehicle that came back to the Atlanta, Georgia area. My detectives were phenomenal in this, of starting to gather information, tracked them to *** location here at *** gas station, identified two of the individuals. before they left, they drove that that afternoon back to Atlanta, Georgia, and we were able to track them to the city of Conyers PD Conyers, Georgia just in the outskirts of Atlanta itself. Working with Conyers police department, we were able to stop that vehicle really 24 hours after the burglary, recovered *** lot of the stolen property, ended up getting one person in custody that day. I sent two detective. to Conyers, Georgia that afternoon we ended up doing interviews and ended up getting another person in custody on that next day and doing additional search warrants and recovering additional property. We still have two other individuals that we identified that are wanted for the burglary that we have not been able to put in custody. We’re working with our federal partners with the FBI and the US Marshals Service to get them in custody, but we have warrants out for their arrest. Right now we have 2 in custody. They are still in Georgia. They have not been extradited back to Louisiana as of yet, but they certainly will be. The two in custody are Donald Robinson of Stockbridge, Georgia and Jean Brown of Conyers, Georgia, and the two individuals that are wanted right now are Jahan Suber and Davell Ortiz, both of Conyers, Georgia, looking to get obviously them in custody if anybody has the whereabouts of them in the Georgia area. Uh, similar to the NFL burglaries and other high profile burglaries that we’ve had around the country, it looks like individuals are targeting players, you know, during the games on mainly away games, but in this case it was *** home game and targeting him during that particular scenario is exactly what happened here just from the great police work here at the Jefferson Power Sheriff’s Office, we’re able to get two in custody and I’ve identified the other two and hopefully be able to recover even more of the property once we get. Those two in custody. I’ll take whatever questions I can, you know. Why do you think Cam’s house was targeted? I mean, certainly *** high profile player, you know, so I don’t know of anything other than that. I mean, it looks like they target high profile individuals. Cam being one of them, you know, certainly that’s ***, you know, *** case that I would say is the case now coming from Atlanta, Georgia. I don’t know if there’s ***, you know, more decivious meaning of that, you know. I mean, I’m sure he’ll get his revenge on the playing field when we go back and play at Atlanta, which I would hope you would, right? But that being said, I don’t have ***, you know, *** reason other than that, right? I mean, I think they certainly are looking for high profile players around, and I think Cam was one that they decided to target on that particular weekend. Unfortunately, he lives in Jefferson Parish, and we were able to solve it very quickly. I mean, I wish we could prevent it, but unfortunately it happened and you know it’s how do we respond to it afterwards. Do you think this is connected to the other ones, they’re looking into it and certainly having. FBI involved is looking into it of whether it’s loosely connected or directly connected. Sometimes you have copycats that are just doing that, but I mean, I certainly think it’s loosely connected, but we’ll let the federal government start looking at all the cases. I’m not privy to all the other cases in other jurisdictions to know the individual facts, but we’ll let them, you know, get involved and start looking into it and hopefully our case can help somebody else’s. I give us an idea of what was taken. I’m not going to release that, you know, we recovered some, but in truth of it is, you know, part of the reason we’re here two weeks later was one for investigative purposes purposes to let the investigation play out. But you know, I’m gonna respect Cam’s privacy if he. To tell you what was stolen, he can tell you, but you know, we’ll, you know, I’ll keep that, you know, *** secret for now. I mean you don’t want to go check court records, you can later on, but you know, I don’t think it’s appropriate to do something. Just to follow up, was there *** reason why you wanted to wait till now? Well, I mean, I always knew I would look, to be honest with you, I thought y’all would know about it sooner, to be honest with you. I mean, let’s be real, you know, immediately afterwards, we wanted to try to get him in custody and be able to recover information, not, not let the suspects know that we were on them, right? So, from our standpoint, holding that information back for us to be able to catch up with them gives us *** better opportunity to be able to make *** better case. Criminal case going forward, um, but then after that, um, you know, if, if anybody asked me about it, I’m certainly going to confirm it and did so this morning of what occurred, you know, certainly, you know, that’s not the case, but I’m going to respect his privacy if he would have came out two weeks ago, we would’ve been having this conversation two weeks ago, but he didn’t say anything. Y’all didn’t say anything, so I didn’t say anything. So they targeted anyone else in the New Orleans area or they’ve done it previously in Georgia. You know, I don’t have the information of whether these suspects, Michel, have done it anyplace else. I was under the impression that additional arrests have been made in other cases with suspects from Conyers, Georgia. So I think they are loosely related from that, but not necessarily these individual suspects. I do not have any information that they targeted anybody else here. It looks like they came in, just did the burglary at Cam’s house, and then drove right back. Will there be any Anything done going forward in terms of some of these places. We typically do that for the players that ask for it, you know, I work with the Saints in order to try to make that happen. In fact, we, we had *** person on at his house when his wife came home that night. It was literally across the street. She didn’t have to call 911. She was able to walk outside and grab the detective. We, we didn’t know the hustle had broken into earlier because it was through *** back door, but there was *** person there, so we typically try to do that. I can tell you there’ll be more scrutiny just to try to do. So especially for our higher profile players, most of y’all know the drone program is going to be operational soon, so we’ll even be able to do *** little bit more of that. But most of the players that have asked for it, because I don’t do it if they don’t ask for it, but if they identify and they ask for it, we do do extra patrols on their houses during the games and remind our deputies that *** game is this weekend and these patrol requests are out there. Sure, just to clarify, so there were 4 suspects. We all 4. We have identified 4 suspects that came in town. All 4 of them identified, 2 in custody, 2 still outstanding. Any idea where I knew they’d be in jail right now, you know, I’ll let marshals track them down, but certainly, yeah, I’d like them to have them in custody. They rented *** vehicle in Atlanta, drove to New Orleans, hit the house. They left that same day or the next day that same day left that same day, drove back. And these guys were caught on camera. Uh, they were, we have all kinds of different cameras at different locations at different places. I mean, uh, you know, whether they stopped at *** gas station, we’ve, we’ve done *** whole bunch of, you know, surveillance on them after the fact, but to get them identified. Uh, no, it was not *** truck. No. The names are on the release, although I released them already, but if you want me to repeat them again, I will, but they’re under release. You want to repeat it again? All right. In custody is Donald Robertson, 28 years of age, Stockbridge, Georgia. Jaon, J *** D O N Brown, 19 years old, of Conyers, Georgia. Those are both in custody. The two that are outstanding is Jahan, J *** H *** U N Suber S U B E R, 20 years old and Dell, D E V E L L, Ortiz O R T I Z 19, both of Conyers, Georgia for those two. Did any of them have any criminal backgrounds or history? I don’t know. I’m sure my investigators know, but I don’t know and I don’t have it in front of me. Do you um know when you expect them to be extradited? I don’t know. I don’t know. They’re fighting it. I don’t know if they’re, I don’t know the process of where they are in that, but they, yes, they’re all from with the exception of the one in Stockbridge, but all the outskirts of Atlanta. But yes, they’ll be coming here. You were all arrested at home the wars were served in Stockbridge. Well, one of them was arrested the day of still in the vehicle. The other one was arrested at *** no, no, in Georgia. We had we had tracked the vehicle back to Georgia and Conyers’s PD made *** stop on that vehicle and was able to put one of them in custody and then from that information we identified the other ones and we did *** search warrant on one of their houses there and took that person into custody. She, you think this is like *** one off. Uh, you know, look, as I said, it’s certainly *** copycat whether or not it’s connected to others. I’ll let, I’ll let the FBI, you know, try to make that determination. I don’t think they know that yet, you know, I think we’re, they’re going to look into the other ones around other jurisdictions to see if it’s just *** copycat or if it has relations to previous ones. For your team to catch them so quickly within 48 hours, that’s 24 hours. I mean within 12 hours we had the vehicle identified with 16 hours it was over and we had people in the car that afternoon driving to Georgia to do interviews and collect evidence and and recover, you know, stolen property was done great work, you know, I’ll make the joke because, you know, my PIO told me not to, but I’m gonna say it anyway, you know, we, we, I stick them on like camera. Cam Jordans on Matt Ryan, right? We we’re coming after you and we’re going to catch you and sure enough that’s what they did, and I hope Cam appreciates that. But you know, they did, they did *** great job of really working it. I’m proud of them, you know, look, we do this on every one of our cases, but to have *** case that’s literally crossed 4 states go across country to be able to track this. We had *** lot of good police work involved, *** lot of good help along the way. Conyers PD couldn’t have been any better. To work with, I got them on the phone. We’re en route, make the takedown. Sure enough, they were able to send us pictures, and we said we’re en route, jumped in the car and what was it 7.5 hours later they’re in Atlanta sleeping overnight, waking up the next morning and doing additional search warrants. Certainly I want to get the other two in custody and want to recover all the rest of the stuff. We’ll work our best to be able to make that happen, but you know, *** good outcome, you know, from, from the sheriff’s office perspective. Jordan relayed any words. Uh, Mr. Jordan is of course very appreciative. It’s never *** good day to be *** victim on, you know, any of these cases, you know, I wish, you know, every, every day that I wake up and I don’t, my phone doesn’t ring for *** nice crime is always good. I like my crime sets *** lot, but knowing that we have *** great team that gets out there and can investigate crime and As I always say, I can’t prevent crime. What I can do is solve crime quickly to prevent the next crime. And so what, what this did is these four individuals here didn’t this past weekend or didn’t yesterday go to another NFL player someplace else in the country and commit another burglary. You know, if we can if we can put them in jail, we prevent the next crime from happening, and that’s what we did. So yeah, thank you.
