Kirk Herbstreit and the ESPN “College GameDay” crew just wrapped up another successful week of their longstanding college football pregame show.

This past Saturday, the crew traveled to Alabama to cover the Crimson Tide’s top-25 matchup against the SEC-rival Vanderbilt Commodores. Herbstreit, along with Desmond Howard, Nick Saban, Pat McAfee and Rece Davis, took the stage in front of an electric crowd in Tuscaloosa.

Saturday’s episode of “College GameDay” delivered some historic TV viewership numbers.

“@CollegeGameDay’s Week 6 trip to @UofAlabama scored the 2nd most-watched reg. season episode EVER!” ESPN PR wrote in an announcement on social media.

The program averaged 2.8 million viewers over its runtime, up 45% compared to last year’s Week 6 episode. The final hour of the episode drew 3.5 million viewers.

Herbstreit responded to this announcement with a strong message for college football fans.

“One thing is for sure-all the offseason madness and chaos CFB has been undertaking the last 5-7 years clearly isn’t hurting interest in the sport! Again we thank you for your passion (that we share with you) for CFB and do our best weekly to get ya ready every Saturday and have a little fun at the same time. We are off to Eugene Saturday for an always AWESOME scene in the Pacific Northwest!!” Herbstreit wrote on X.

This coming weekend, the “College GameDay” crew will travel to Eugene, Oregon, for a highly-anticipated top-10 matchup between the No. 7 Indiana Hoosiers and the No. 3 Oregon Ducks.

Dan Lanning’s Oregon team is 5-0 to start the year, fresh off an overtime victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions two weekends ago. Curt Cignetti’s Hoosiers are also 5-0, picking up where they left off following last year’s 10-0 start and College Football Playoff appearance.
