Handing out NFL superlatives after the first month of the season
USA TODAY Sports’ Joe Rivera and Chris Bumbaca hand out their NFL superlatives after the first month of the 2025 season.
The New York Jets (0-5) head to England still in search of their first win of the 2025 season when they take on the Denver Broncos (3-2) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Another slow start plagued the Jets in a Week 5 loss against the Cowboys, as the team has now failed to score a touchdown in the first half in four consecutive games after a 19-point first half outburst versus Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers in Week 1.
The 37-22 final score was much closer than the actual game depicted, with the Jets down 30-6 heading into the fourth quarter. The defense continues to be a huge problem for the Jets, as the Cowboys gashed them for 180 rushing yards and 6.2 yards per carry on the ground. Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott tossed four touchdown passes and averaged 8.2 yards per attempt (YPA) without No. 1 wide receiver for a second consecutive week.
Now the winless Jets have to travel to London to face a Broncos organization that just upset the previously unbeaten defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles 21-17 in Philly and bolster one of, if not the top defensive unit in the entire NFL.

Here are our staff predictions for Jets vs. Broncos from London on Sunday morning:
Bert Bainbridge
The pick: Broncos 24, Jets 13
Here’s why:Â There’s no doubt this is the toughest test so far for the Jets offense, who face a vaunted Broncos defense that’s tied for the second-fewest points allowed (84) and rank among the league’s best in numerous defensive categories, with Pro Bowl linebacker Nik Bonnito leading the league in sacks with seven and has accumulated six sacks alone over the last three games.
It’ll be another long day for Justin Fields and Co., as another slow start dooms Gang Green across the pond with the Jets remaining winless through six games nearing the midway point of the season.
Bob Jordan
The pick: Broncos 28, Jets 3
Here’s why: The Jets’ offense has been racking up turnovers (8) and penalties (52 in 5 games). Zero shot of turning things around against the surging Broncs.
Brian Marron
The pick: Broncos 24, Jets 10
Here’s why: It’s difficult to imagine a putrid Jets offense putting up serious points against one of the best defenses in football. The Broncos are fifth in points allowed per game, and lead the NFL in sacks. Bo Nix and the Denver offense should be able to score enough to earn a comfortable win.
