After each game he covers on FOX, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady — currently in the second of his 10-year, $375 deal with the network — awards his “LFG!” player of the game.
On Sunday, that honor went to an excited Jacory Croskey-Merritt of the Washington Commanders for his strong play in his team’s commanding 27-10 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Brady, who joked with former teammate Rob Gronkowski on-set earlier in the afternoon, seemed to leave Croskey-Merritt in a daze. The player nicknamed “Bill” seemed honored to be speaking with his idol.
“It definitely gives me a lot of confidence,” Croskey-Merritt told Brady of winning the “LFG!”. “I want to say thanks to God, my teammates, and my family for just being with me the whole way, so it definitely gives me a lot of confidence.”
The rookie seventh-round pick out of Arizona carried 14 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Through the air, he caught two Jayden Daniels passes for 39 further yards.
Originally an afterthought in the Washington backfield, Croskey-Merritt has blossomed as the team’s top back after a preseason trade of Brian Robinson and a season-ending injury to Austin Ekeler.
“I’m so thankful for this organization for believing in me, for trusting me, and I’m so thankful and just excited to be here,” he added.
On the season, he’s up to a team-high 283 rushing yards (and 322 total) for the 3-2 Commanders. Croskey-Merritt was showered by the Washington crowd with chants of “Bill, Bill” throughout the contest. He earned the nickname as a child, with friends claiming his haircut resembled the titular character from the animated show “Little Bill.”

“I definitely hear them, and I love it,” Croskey-Merritt said of the crowd. “I’m so thankful that they support me, and it just makes me want to give my all to them.”
He becomes Brady’s fifth “LFG!” on the season, following: Jayden Daniels (Week 1), Saquon Barkley (Week 2), Caleb Williams (Week 3), and Zach Baun (Week 4).
Brady will be in Baltimore for a Week 6 matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Ravens.
