The Denver Broncos are fresh off of a huge win over the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5 NFL action by a final score of 21-17. It was a win that sent a clear statement to the rest of the league.
After an inconsistent start to the season, the Broncos were facing a lot of questions going up against the Eagles. However, being able to come away with a win is a clear sign that they are still a team to watch as a potential contender in the AFC.
Following the win, Denver moved to 3-2 on the young season.

Seeing the Broncos defeat the Super Bowl champions from last season opened some eyes across the NFL. One person who took notice of the big win was franchise legend John Elway.

During an interview with USA Today’s Chris Bumbaca, Elway spoke out with some strong words about Denver after the team’s big win.
“I think to be able to go into Philadelphia, beat defending champions, I think is just a – it’s almost a signature win for them over the last several years,” Elway said. “Because it hasn’t been great. But I think that for the confidence, and the thing that they will gain from this, I think, will be the next step to them creating a very, very good football team.”
Elway continued on, speaking out with his thoughts about head coach Sean Payton. He’s clearly a big fan of the Broncos’ lead man.
“Sean Payton has done a heck of a job,” Elways said. “He’s a (expletive) of a head football coach, and I think he’s done a (expletive) of a job with Bo and bringing him along the way he’s brought him along. One step at a time, not giving him too much that he can’t handle.”

Moving forward, Denver will need to prove that it can win consistently. Beating the Eagles is great, but the Broncos have to continue winning football games.
Next up for Denver will be a matchup at home against the New York Jets. The Broncos will be looking to string together their third straight win after knocking off the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia in back-to-back weeks. Hopefully, the win over the Eagles is just a stepping stone to much bigger things.
