The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed linebacker Jacoby Windmon to their practice squad. Windmon has a locker in the team’s facility, and it comes one day after Jon Rhattigan was signed off the team’s practice squad by the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Steelers also released linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley to make room for returner and running back Raheem Blackshear.

Windmon has only been with the Carolina Panthers signed him off the Steelers’ practice squad last year. They released him in August and no team since has swooped in to sign him.

Windmon, an undrafted rookie out of Michigan State in 2024, did not make the Steelers’ 53-man roster after playing well in the preseason last year. Instead, he joined the team’s practice squad as an edge rusher and linebacker that can play at both spots.

Windmon played in eight games with the Panthers, racking up 1.5 sacks and 13 tackles in his rookie season.

Now back in the room, Windmon brings depth at inside linebacker and off the edge. Pittsburgh could use help at both spots with some shifting around on the roster, and Windmon knows the system, which will help him catch on quicker than others.
