ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — Monday Night Football returns to Northwest Stadium.

The Washington Commanders will be hosting the Chicago Bears in prime time.

Who can forget what happened last year when these two teams met? A Hail Mary miracle for the Commanders with Jayden Daniels finding Noah Brown in the end zone as time expired, giving Washington the dramatic win.

This year, Washington is 3-2 on the season, while Chicago is 2-2. The Bears are also well rested, coming off their bye week.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn knows it will be a battle under those bright Monday night lights.

“I spoke to the team on leveling up, aiming to execute a little better,” Quinn said. “Can we go a little faster, while maintaining the discipline? Can we up the physicality while maintaining our discipline?”

This could be another opportunity for Washington to get their ground game going against a struggling Bears rush defense. Rookie running back Bill Croskey-Merritt is coming off the best game of his career last week in Los Angeles.

On just 28 snaps, Croskey-Merritt totaled 150 yards and two touchdowns. He is quickly becoming a focal point of this Commanders’ offense.

“I still feel like there are plenty of areas for us to improve upon. Third downs would be a big part of that as well,” Quinn said. “When you are playing really well on third down, you have more extended drives. If you’re really effective on first and second downs, you can actually have less third downs and you’re just maintaining the ball.”

Monday’s game will kick off at 8:15 pm. You will be able to watch the game on WJLA.
