Are the Houston Texans trending up following their 44-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens?
Is Houston just a run-of-the-mill roster living off bad play from Tennessee and Baltimore?
Following their back-to-back wins over the Tennessee Titans and Ravens in Week 5, the Texans are now up to No.17 in Nate Davis’ latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports. That’s up four spots from when the team was ranked 21st last week following a shutout performance against the Titans at NRG Stadium.
“They’ve won their past two games by an aggregate score of 70-10. But a Week 6 bye could blunt their momentum and cost them to surrender more ground to the Colts and Jags, who are already two games clear of the reigning AFC South champs.” – Nate Davis.
The Texans are on a bye week and currently cannot reach an even 3-3 record until Week 8 with a victory over the Seattle Seahawks. This will also allow teams like the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars to gain ground a create more separation since both AFC teams sit at 4-1.
Davis isn’t entirely sold on the Colts’ listing them at No. 1 and the lowest among one-loss teams. The Jaguars fought their way back to secure a win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, which was enough for Davis to move Jacksonville up from nine spots from No. 14 to No. 6.
Elsewhere, the Detroit Lions are ranked No. 1. The Seahawks, Houston’s next opponent, enters Sunday at No. 12 following their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
