Former Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson and defensive tackle Yahya Black signed their rookie contracts with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Another former Iowa duo have inked their rookie contracts as well. Iowa tight end Luke Lachey and offensive guard Connor Colby signed with the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.

Career Stats: 893 receiving yards, 74 catches, 4 touchdowns

Luke Lachey departs Iowa after playing in 42 games and starting 24. Injuries slowed down what looked like was tracking as one of the next great tight end careers in Iowa City.

Lachey still caught 28 passes for 231 yards in 2024, but his best season came in the 2022 season when he reeled in 28 catches for 398 yards and four scores.

Houston hopes it can tap into more of what defenses had to deal with in 2022.

Lachey will wear No. 42 in Houston and signed a four-year, $4.3 million contract with the Texans that will pay him a base salary of $840,000 in 2025 and that included a signing bonus of $101,672 per Spotrac.

Career Stats: 50 career starts (37 at right guard)

Connor Colby was a four-year starter for the Hawkeyes that started at left guard, right guard and right tackle across his Iowa career. The 6-foot-6, 309-pound offensive lineman will factor in along the 49ers’ offensive interior. The Cedar Rapids product was a first-team All-Big Ten choice last season.

Colby inked a four-year, $4.3 million contract that will pay him a base salary of $840,000 in 2024 and that includes a signing bonus of $101,672 per Spotrac.
