Consistency for the Minnesota Vikings through five weeks. They have alternated wins and losses each week, needing come-from-behind wins against the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.

Part of this is due to injuries across the roster. They were without Christian Darrisaw in the first two weeks of the season. Since then, they have lost J.J. McCarthy, Blake Cashman, Aaron Jones, Brian O’Neill, Donovan Jackson, and Ryan Kelly, among others.

So it shouldn’t be a surprise that the ESPN Power Rankings have the Vikings ranked 16th in the league in their Week 6 Power Rankings. ESPN asked each team writer to list a fantasy surprise, and Kevin Seifert highlighted Jordan Mason for the Vikings.

The Vikings are leaning into Mason as a true goal-line runner, something they’ve been missing since Dalvin Cook‘s final season with them in 2022. Mason has three touchdowns in five goal-to-go carries this season. That might not sound like many, but it puts him on pace to exceed the team’s 11 such scores over the previous two seasons combined.

Fortunately for the Vikings, most of their injured players are set to return at some point this season. Perhaps that can help lead to better consistency week-to-week.
