J.J. McCarthy hasn’t played since the Minnesota Vikings lost 22-6 to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. Some fans are hoping that he will return for the Vikings’ Week 7 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. But one prominent Vikings insider isn’t so sure that will be the case.

Darren “Doogie” Wolfson of KSTP, who makes regular appearances on SKOR North’s Purple Daily podcast for his “Scoops” sessions, speculated that it could be more than a few weeks before we see McCarthy return to the starting lineup.

McCarthy suffered a high ankle sprain in the loss to the Falcons. Kevin O’Connell said that he wants to see McCarthy get a full week of practice before he returns to the starting lineup.

Fans want to see that happen sooner rather than later, but it could realistically take longer than that.
