Construction at the new Highmark Stadium is moving along. Thousands of seats in the lower bowl and the field goal posts are installed. Right now, crews are focusing on laying down sod and planting the field’s grass.

Frost advisories, freeze watches and freeze warnings are in effect Wednesday and Thursday nights for much of New York state. Most temperatures will fall into the 20s and 30s. For many, these are the coldest temperatures so far this season.

New York’s maximum weekly unemployment insurance benefit increase goes into effect next week, raising from $504 to $869, state officials reminded residents Wednesday.

5. Securing New York’s northern border requires river and road patrols

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are assigned to patrol St. Lawrence River, keeping an eye out for illegal activity. That, however, is not their only duty. Road patrols are another way CBP can help secure the border, but it also helps partner agencies by responding to calls for emergency or illegal crossings.

6. Benefits of passkeys and why they may replace traditional passwords for cybersecurity

Rochester Institute of Technology cybersecurity principal lecturer Jonathan S. Weissman says traditional passwords may soon be replaced by something much safer — passkeys. He explained that instead of typing in a password, users will be able to log in using their face, fingerprint, or phone PIN, making it harder for hackers to gain access.

Firebaugh High School to rename football field in honor of Josh Allen

On Friday, Firebaugh High School, located in Josh Allen’s hometown of Firebaugh, California, will honor one of their most famous alums by naming their football field after him. 

The school will be serving chicken wings and raffling off signed Allen memorabilia as part of the celebration.Â
