NFL Week 5 Overreactions

USAT’s Lorenzo Reyes breaks down the best games from NFL Week 5.

Sports Seriously

The Jets (0-5) head abroad as they still look to get in the win column for the first time this season when they take on the Denver Broncos (3-2) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.

If Gang Green is to have any chance against one of the best defenses in the league, they must get off to a fast start. The Jets have scored only 15 first-half points over the last four games and failed to score a touchdown in the first two quarters in each of those contests.

This Jets-Broncos matchup already marks the fourth international game for the NFL with three left on the docket this season. The Vikings — who the Jets faced in London last season — became the first team in NFL history to play back-to-back regular season games abroad as they played the first ever regular season game in Ireland against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 and followed it up with a short trip to London versus the Browns in Week 5.

Jets vs. Broncos predictions, picks, odds

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Thursday, Oct. 9:

Broncos 24, Jets 13: There’s no doubt this is the toughest test so far for the Jets offense, who face a vaunted Broncos defense that’s tied for the second-fewest points allowed (84) and rank among the league’s best in numerous defensive categories, with Pro Bowl linebacker Nik Bonnito leading the league in sacks with seven and has accumulated six sacks alone over the last three games. It’ll be another long day for Justin Fields and Co., as another slow start dooms Gang Green across the pond with the Jets remaining winless through six games nearing the midway point of the season.
