Where the Dolphins stand
The Dolphins have a 1-4 record and are third in the AFC East.
Good in front of the home crowd
The Dolphins are at their best at home, boasting a 19-8 record at games played at Hard Rock Stadium during the Mike McDaniel era.
Bottom of the barrel defense
Miami’s defense is currently ranked among the worst in the league in various categories. They are ranked 31st in third-down defense (50.00%), 30th in rushing yards allowed per game (174.2 yards), and 27th in points allowed (29.0 points). The Dolphins are middle of the pack against the pass, allowing 212.4 yards per game.
Offense took a hit
Wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Jets in Week 4. Before sustaining the injury, Hill was leading the team in receiving. Jaylen Waddle stepped up in his absence with six receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers this past weekend.

Uneven offense
With quarterback Tua Tagovailoa leading the offense, the unit isn’t anything to write home about. The Dolphins are ranked 21st in passing offense with 196.4 yards per game. They are also averaging a measly 82.2 rushing yards per game, which ranks 31st. However, in got-to-have-it opportunities, Miami is sharp as they own a 76.92% conversion rate in the red zone and 46.67% on third down, which is second-best in the NFL.
Watch out for Achane
Despite ranking near the bottom in rushing offense, running back De’Von Achane still poses a threat, especially at catching balls out of the backfield. Achane is first in touchdowns (3), second in receptions (25) and fourth in receiving yards (173) among all running backs in the league.
