Outside of his NBA career, LeBron James is somewhat well-known as a football fanatic. He was once a star wide receiver in high school, and some have felt that he could’ve had a successful career in the NFL had he chosen that route.

The Akron, Ohio native is a devoted Cleveland Browns fan, and his favorite team is facing an interesting decision at the quarterback position. Veteran Joe Flacco is back after leading the Browns to an unexpected playoff berth in 2023, and Kenny Pickett will also have a shot at winning the starting quarterback spot.

Another man in the picture is Shedeur Sanders, the intriguing but polarizing QB out of the University of Colorado. The son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, he was expected to go in the first round of last month’s NFL draft, but he embarrassingly slid to the fifth round, where the Browns decided to take a chance on him.

But James showed his support for the younger Sanders as the Browns’ rookie minicamp got underway with a social media post.

The younger Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns last season. Scouts and experts seem divided on whether he has star potential or is merely a product of nepotism.

James, of course, can likely relate. His son Bronny was also accused of being a “nepo baby” upon being taken by the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 55 pick in last year’s NBA draft. But the younger James started to get the hang of it starting in January while playing in the G League, and there is now some tangible hope that he could eventually become a rotation player in the NBA after all.
