The New York Jets are winless to start the 2025 NFL season, going 0-5 through their first five games.
Head coach Aaron Glenn and his team have a chance to notch their first victory of the season against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, facing off in an international matchup at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Jets’ defense has been disappointing to start the year, allowing 319.4 yards and 22.4 points per game. This past weekend, the team gave up its biggest point total of the year, surrendering 37 points to the Dallas Cowboys in a Week 5 loss.
That said, help is on the way for the Jets’ defense.
On Friday, Glenn told reporters that star linebacker Jermaine Johnson will return to the field for Sunday’s game against the Broncos.
Johnson, the 26th overall pick in 2022, missed each of New York’s last three games after suffering an ankle injury in Week 2.

Johnson, a 2023 NFL Pro Bowler, is a leader for the Jets’ defensive unit. The 26-year-old LB told reporters that the defense held a players-only meeting before making the trip over to London.
“Everybody was on the same page,” Johnson said, via team insider Rich Cimini of ESPN. “We have to be better. We can’t be the reason we lose. That can’t happen. We have too much talent.
“Coach AG (Aaron Glenn) has had our back as far as how he runs this thing, instilling a certain culture in here. We have to have his back by putting a good product out there. That’s our job. We definitely take full accountability.”

Johnson had a breakout year with the Jets in 2023, notching 7.5 sacks, 16 QB hits, 11 tackles for loss, 55 tackles and one forced fumble in his lone Pro-Bowl campaign. Unfortunately, his 2024 season was cut short by a season-ending Achilles tendon tear in Week 2.
Sunday’s matchup against the Broncos will kickoff at 9:30 a.m. ET.
