Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan said that kicker Joey Slye will be out for the game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Callahan said Slye, who has been absent from practice this week with a right calf injury, was injured during the win versus the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 5, before Slye’s missed extra point.

The Titans signed kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad this week as insurance for Slye, who has missed four field goals and an extra point in the last three games, but also contributed the game-winning field goal against Arizona.

“Just ready to kick whenever I’m called upon,” Wright told reporters. “I’ve been doing it for a while, so I’ll just keep doing it.”

Wright played in two games for the Titans last year, making all four of his field goal attempts and his only extra point. His longest attempted kick was from 39 yards out. He doesn’t have the range Slye does as a power kicker, but Callahan says he’s confident in Wright’s consistency.

Other players who Callahan ruled out include outside linebacker Arden Key, offensive lineman Blake Hance, cornerback Marcus Oliver and wide receiver Bryce Oliver. Offensive tackle JC Latham is expected to play, but he’ll officially be listed as questionable.

Latham has been out with a hip injury since Week 1, when he re-aggravated a hip injury sustained during training camp. Latham’s primary replacement while he’s been sidelined has been veteran Oli Udoh.

The Titans (1-4) visit the Raiders (1-4) at Allegiant Stadium on Oct. 12 (3:05 p.m. CT, FOX).

Sweat, the Titans’ second-year defensive tackle, will miss his fourth-straight game on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Per NFL rules, four games is the minimum amount of time a player can miss before being elevated back to the active roster.

Callahan said the Titans are hopeful that Sweat will be able to return to practice next week and work toward his eventual return. In addition to the ankle injury, Sweat had to recover from an oblique injury and a tonsillectomy in training camp before he could even be active for Week 1.

While Sweat’s been out, he’s been replaced by veterans Shy Tuttle and James Lynch, who play alongside starters on the defensive line Jeffery Simmons and Sebastian Joseph-Day.
