A native of Henderson, Nevada, Matavao was a consensus four-star recruit from Liberty High School and played in both the All-American Bowl and the Polynesian Bowl in 2021.

Stat Leader

In 2024, he led UCLA with 41 receptions for 506 yards, pacing the Bruins’ passing attack.

Award Recognition

Matavao was named an All-Pac-12 honorable mention honoree in 2023 and was on the watch lists for the John Mackey Award and Polynesian College Football Player of the Year in 2024.

Versatile Contributor

The 6-foot-5, 263-pound tight end played in 50 games (22 starts) during his college career at Oregon and UCLA. He caught at least one pass in his 11 games played during his senior season.

Matavao was the winner of UCLA’s Jackie R. Robinson Award for excellence in academics and athletics.
