Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is slowly but surely losing support from the fan base.
Statistically speaking, Tagovailoa is enjoying a fine season with the Dolphins. He’s completing 70.7% of his passes for 1,008 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. It’s worth noting that he made costly mistakes in Week 2 against the New England Patriots and Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills.

Tagovailoa has faced a lot of criticism for his struggles this season. When asked about all the naysayers this week, he made a pretty interesting comment.
“I would say it hasn’t been as difficult this year just because, as I’ve said in prior interviews, I’m not on social media; I don’t have any of that,” Tagovailoa said, via Fox Digital News. “And then, outside of that, I go home and see my kids. Whether I throw five picks or five touchdowns, we win the game, we lose the game, I get to come home to my kids, who are happy to see me every time.”

Let’s just say fans aren’t fond of Tagovailoa’s remarks. They’re saying he showed a “loser mentality” at the podium this week. Some are even calling for him to retire.

“It’s over,” one fan wrote on X.
“He should retire, this is loser mentality,” a second fan commented.
“Yeah he knows he’s getting released soon lol. You think his team doesn’t block now just wait,” another fan said.
“You know it’s over when athletes start talking about how successful they are in their personal lives,” a social media user declared.
Tagovailoa’s future in Miami.
Back in July 2024, the Dolphins signed Tagovailoa to a four-year, $212.4 million contract.

The Dolphins have Tagovailoa under contract through the 2028 season. If they wanted to release him in 2026, they’d take on $99 million in dead money.
Trading away Tagovailoa would help the Dolphins save $11.2 million in cap space, but it’s unlikely another team will want to acquire his contract.
With that said, there’s a good chance the Dolphins will keep Tagovailoa around for at least one more season.
