Fort Hays State picked up its second straight win and improved to 3-1 in the MIAA last week with a 28-21 victory at Missouri Southern. The Tigers never trailed and took its largest lead at 28-14 early in the fourth quarter on Caleb Heavner’s one-yard touchdown run. Heavner threw for 125 yards and a touchdown while running for 94 yards and two scores and Joshua Clark finished with 116 yards on 15 carries. The defense carried its weight, forcing three turnovers.

Central Oklahoma dropped its second straight game after a 2-0 start in MIAA play, losing a 35-34 nailbiter at home to Central Missouri last week. The Bronchos closed to within a single point with 2:56 remaining on a four-yard touchdown pass from Jett Huff to Dominique Dunn, but Joseph Kim missed the potential game-tying extra point. Huff finished with 394 yards and four touchdown passes while William Mason ran for 168 yards on 21 carries. The Bronchos have won three of the last four meetings with Fort Hays State, including a 49-24 victory at home last season.
