The San Francisco 49ers are traveling across the country in Week 6 for an NFC battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.
Ahead of the matchup, the 49ers announced a trio of roster moves on Saturday. San Francisco activated safety Malik Mustapha from the PUP list, waived defensive end Robert Beal Jr. and elevated defensive end Trevis Gipson from the practice squad.

Mustapha, 23, was San Francisco’s fourth-round pick (No. 124 overall) in the 2024 NFL draft following a collegiate career split between Richmond and Wake Forest, where he earned All-ACC honors. He appeared in 16 games as a rookie, finishing with 72 tackles, five passes defensed and an interception before suffering an ACL injury in the season finale.
Beal, 26, was San Francisco’s fifth-round pick (No. 173 overall) in the 2023 NFL draft out of Georgia, where he won two national championships. He’s appeared in 19 games since entering the league, recording 22 tackles and a sack. The 49ers may try to sneak him back onto the practice squad again if he goes unclaimed.
