Hollywood Brown and the Kansas City Chiefs fell to 2-3 on the 2025 NFL season after a 31-28 loss to Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5’s edition of “Monday Night Football.” Despite the loss, Brown had a solid night, catching four balls from Patrick Mahomes for 48 yards. But it wasn’t enough to stop Lawrence from leading the come-from-behind win.

With 6:47 remaining in the first quarter of the Chiefs’ matchup against the Jaguars, Kansas City was deep in Jacksonville territory when running back Kareem Hunt picked up one yard on first down. After the play, Brown got into a scuffle with Jaguars cornerback Jourdan Lewis and threw a punch at his helmet. He was flagged for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty, pushing the Chiefs back into their own territory.

For his actions against Lewis on Monday night, Brown was fined $12,172 for “striking/kicking/tripping/kneeing.” If the former Oklahoma wideout commits a similar offense again, he would face a $17,968 fine for a second violation.

Brown wasn’t the only player fined for striking in Week 5. In fact, four other players received the same penalty from the NFL on Saturday, including Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, Detroit Lions tight end Brock Wright, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Joe Bachie and Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia.

“The NFL fined #Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown $12,172 for smacking #Jaguars CB Jourdan Lewis on Monday night,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero wrote on X. “Only Brown was penalized, or fined.”

In Week 5 alone, the NFL handed out a total of 13 fines through 2,264 plays, good for 0.57% of all snaps. Brown is also not the only Chiefs receiver to be fined, as JuJu Smith-Schuster was hit with a $7,903 charge last week for a low block.

Up next for Brown and the Chiefs, a Week 6 battle with the Detroit Lions on “Sunday Night Football.”
