You don’t like to think of the Detroit Lions as a team that shows up on the fines list a lot, but they do. At this point, it feels like the whole team has been fined at least once. So nothing felt like a surprise until Saturday, when this guy got fined for probably the weakest and most accidental thing that ever happened.

NFL fines Brock Wright $11,883 for tripping

Look, I get it. I see what it looks like. Tripping happens in every NFL game, even though it’s not supposed to. But Wright gets jarred out of the way pretty handily on what we can all agree is a bad block, and his foot gets caught. Like, come on, you can’t see that, and maybe give a bit of a pass considering some of the actual trips we’ve seen in the league?

You want to see a trip? Look at Colts linebacker Joe Bachie in his clip. He got fined for tripping, and you can clearly tell he was trying to trip a guy. It must just be the week for it. Five guys got fined for it. Most of them look like this and not like Wright’s.

This is Wright’s first career fine, and I would imagine it will probably be his last. He didn’t even get called for it.
