The NFL’s trade deadline sits just under a month away as teams attempt to bolster their rosters for the playoff stretch. With the Nov. 4 deadline just a few weeks away, two AFC West teams were just named as big trade targets – the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs.

Kansas City opened the season with hopes of repeating as AFC champions. Through the first five weeks of the season, though, it’s clear Patrick Mahomes and company need to make vast improvements to be a legit contender.

If NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport’s sources are correct, the team is trying to do just that. The insider said Kansas City is “also among the teams asking about running backs” while naming New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara and New York Jets running back Breece Hall in the report.

Earlier this week the Jets running back, who is a free agent after this season, admitted he’s been hearing trade rumors for months, but loves being a member of his current team.

“This is probably like my fifth month dealing with this now. At this point, it is what it is,” Hall said. “I’m here. I want to be here. I love being a New York Jet and everything. But at the end of the day, I don’t control what goes on. I only control what I do on the field and how I handle my business off the field.”

As for Kamara, the veteran running back reportedly wants to remain in New Orleans.

“Sources say Kamara told Saints general manager Mickey Loomis that he’d like to remain with the franchise through the rest of his career, which was the goal when he signed a two-year, $24.5 million extension last October,” Rapoport reported earlier this afternoon. “Kamara is signed through 2026 and will have a decision to make prior to next season about if he wants to continue playing.”

Loomis reportedly approached Kamara to gauge his interest in a trade after receiving calls from other teams.

Kansas City’s leading rusher so far this season is Mahomes, who has 190 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Running back’s Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt are both just above 160 yards on the season while remaining seldom used in the passing game – just 15 receptions between the two through five games.
