The Week 6 NFL action continues with a three-game slate in the afternoon window, leading up to the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football.” The afternoon slate kicks off with a showdown between two struggling NFL teams, the Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders, who currently hold a combined record of 2-8.

Headlining the late afternoon window is a showdown between the 49ers and Buccaneers, as San Francisco and Tampa Bay meet in a battle of 4-1 teams looking to stake their claim at the top of the NFC. The 49ers have been exceptional away from the Bay Area, having won all three road games they’ve played thus far. Meanwhile, the Bucs are just .500 (1-1) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

The Niners have owned the Bucs of late, coming into this meeting with a four-game winning streak intact against Tampa dating back to 2019. That included last year’s game in Tampa, which San Francisco won 23-20. This game is huge for the Bucs if they want to be considered a real contender in the NFC in 2025.

It remains to be seen if that dominance will continue in Week 6, but there’s no doubt that the Buccaneers have an uphill battle ahead, entering this matchup without star receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin Jr., as well as starting running back Bucky Irving. That means a continued big-time role for rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who entered the week with the fourth-most receiving yards in the NFL, only behind Puka Nacua, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Justin Jefferson, with five receiving touchdowns on the year to boot.
