KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Chiefs Kingdom packed the Arrowhead parking lot ahead of Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Lions. Before the matchup, fans shared their thoughts on the season so far.
“The Chiefs aren’t doing what they’re capable of doing,” said Michael Block. “You know, they’re getting penalties, they’re making mistakes. This is a team that last year that thrived on other teams’ mistakes. This year, they’re making a few mistakes, but they’re going to clean it up. They’ve proven they can win on the road, so it’s going to come around. We’re not concerned.”
Block joined friends and family in setting up hours before the game.
“All you have to do is look around,” said Block. “We’re all just having a good time, watching games on the TV. It’s just fun.”

Right across the road, Seth Sloan was one of several tailgaters with corn hole games going on. He says it’s a staple of a good tailgate, along with great food.
“A lot of people that I tailgate with a sit next to, they’re also down the road and also up there as well,” said Sloan. “You build friendships out here. As long as I’ve been tailgating, it’s amazing.”
Like Block, Sloan says he isn’t worried and there’s still a lot of the season left.
“There’s been a lot of ups and downs,” said Sloan. “A lot of pros, a lot of cons that you can look at constantly between last Monday’s game. Sadly, fell short to Jacksonville, but hats off to them. They’re a good team this year. Can’t do much about it. We have a pretty hard schedule this year. Lots of ups and downs, but Kansas City always finds a way to get better. A lot of people doubt us, but it’s not over ‘till the fat lady sings. We’ll see who is singing at the end of the season.”
Audrey Millard, another Chiefs fan tailgating nearby, agrees.
“I think there’s a lot of people who think we aren’t’ the same,” said Millard. “I think we have a lot of awesome individuals playing well as a team. Of course, there’s always room for growth, but of course, we’re still super excited to come out and watch the boys.”
A lifelong Chiefs fan, Millard says no matter a game’s final score, they’ll still be out at Arrowhead cheering on their team.
“Kansas City has a really special group of fans who are committed to making it a great experience no matter the outcome, really passionate, and care about our team,” said Millard. “That’s what makes Kansas City the best.”
