Silas Bolden finds new home

Ahead of their regular-season opener, the Houston Texans have been busy improving their depth. That has entailed improving their practice squad with numerous new faces. One of those additions is former Longhorns star wide receiver Silas Bolden, who signed with Houston on Monday.

While Bolden has spent the last few months bouncing around, he is coming off a solid college career. During his time with Oregon State and Texas, the California native caught 102 passes for 1,319 yards and two touchdowns. Last year with the Longhorns, he hauled in 22 passes for 243 yards.

Although Bolden proved to be a solid depth option, he also brings value to the punting game. He averaged  24.8 yards per kickoff return and 12.8 yards per punt return in college. His ability to impact a game in multiple ways could earn him some playing time with the Texans if injuries arise.

The key for the former Longhorn will be continuing to improve his game while on the practice squad. It will provide Bolden the opportunity to improve his game with less pressure as he begins the next chapter of his football journey. If the Rancho Cucamonga Graduate can learn the offense quickly, his NFL debut could be on the horizon.

In Bolden’s newest opportunity, he will also be reunited with a former teammate in C.J. Stroud. The two played together in high school, and they grew up together. That connection should help Bolden get settled as he adjusts to a new scheme and organization.

As the regular season gets underway, Bolden will be a player to watch while he waits patiently for an opportunity to make an impact in the NFL.Â
