Left tackle Josh Simmons (personal) will not play. Neither will cornerback Kristian Fulton, tight end Jared Wiley, running back Elijah Mitchell and defensive end Malik Herring.
Offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad will be active for the first time this season.
Jaylon Moore will get the nod at left tackle. It would be his first start since late last season, when he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
Kansas City did not elevate any practice squad players for this game.
The Lions have also released their list of inactives. As expected, cornerback Terrion Arnold (shoulder), linebacker Zach Cunningham (hamstring) and running back Sione Vaki (groin) will not dress in Kansas City. Neither will tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder), defensive back Avonte Maddox (hamstring), safety Loren Strickland and defensive lineman Mehki Wingo. But defensive back Brian Branch (ankle), safety Kerby Joseph (knee), wide receiver Kalif Raymond (neck) will play.
Arnold, Cunningham and Vaki were all declared out on Friday. (So was defensive lineman Alim McNeill, who is still on the team’s Reserve/Injured list with a knee injury, but has been practicing with the team). Decker, Maddox, Branch, Joseph and Raymond were all listed as questionable.
On Saturday, the Lions activated three players from their practice squad to their active roster: defensive back Erick Hallett, defensive end Quinton Jefferson and defensive back Nick Whiteside. They made room for these players by waiving two others — center Kingsley Eguakun and defensive tackle Chris Smith — and placing tackle Giovanni Manu on the Reserve/Injured list. (Manu was listed as questionable on Friday). All three of the newly-signed players are dressing in Kansas City.
They also elevated two practice squad players for Sunday’s game: tackle Devin Cochran and defensive back Arthur Maulet. Both are active for the matchup.
