Seymour's Jason Bins Named Packers High School Coach of the Week

SEYMOUR, WI – A remarkable turnaround story on the gridiron has earned Seymour High School football coach Jason Bins statewide recognition. The Green Bay Packers have named Bins their High School Coach of the Week, honoring his leadership, dedication, and the impressive resurgence of the Thunder football program.

Now in his fourth season as head coach, Bins has guided Seymour to a 7-1 record, tied atop the Bay Conference and ranked ninth in Division 4 in the latest state coaches poll. It’s a dramatic transformation for a program that went winless just four years ago, when Bins first took the helm. Since then, he’s built a foundation centered on discipline, teamwork, and community pride, one that’s paying off on Friday nights.

“This honor really shows how far our kids have come,” Bins said. “When my staff and I started, we went 0-9 that first season, and we had all the challenges that come with rebuilding. To see our players earning state recognition now, it means growth, and that’s what our program is all about.”

Beyond the wins and rankings, Bins says success at Seymour runs deeper than football. He credits the program’s improvement to a shared commitment among players, coaches, and families, something that extends well beyond the field. “This isn’t just my award,” he said. “It’s for our entire program, our players, our staff, and everyone who’s supported Seymour football over the years.”

Giving back is also a major part of the team’s identity. Each August, the Thunder host a Community Heroes Picnic, serving and honoring local EMTs, firefighters, police officers, first responders, active military, and veterans. Players also volunteer to help coach Seymour youth flag football, passing along the same lessons they’ve learned from their own coaches.

Bins says these experiences are just as important as what happens under the Friday night lights. “We talk a lot about character and leadership,” he said. “Winning is great, but it’s how you represent your school and your community that really matters.”

A Green Bay native and Luxemburg-Casco graduate, Bins began his coaching career in 2009 and joined Seymour in 2022. Since then, he’s built not only a winning program but also a culture of respect, effort, and gratitude, qualities the Packers’ Coach of the Week award seeks to highlight.
