SALT LAKE CITY – Podcast personality and former NFL punter Pat McAfee thinks the Beehive State would have been a better choice for ESPN College Gameday this weekend when No. 15 BYU hosts No. 23 Utah.
Not only is the familiar fire of rivalry week already permeating the state from St. George to Bear Lake, but the Provo-based matchup has grown in national prominence with both teams landing in the most recent AP Top 25.

“That would’ve been amazing to be at, The Holy War,” McAfee said on this morning’s show. “Utah-BYU, one is 5-1, the other is 6-0, ya know. An entire state, from what we got to experience a couple years back, loves ball…”
The College Gameday crew will instead be in Athens, Georgia, for the Georgia vs. Ole Miss game.
Fox’s rival college football program, Big Noon Kickoff, will be in Provo before Saturday night’s matchup. Big Noon Kickoff was in Salt Lake City earlier this season before the Utes hosted Texas Tech.
