Not only did Justin Fields’s late release and inaccurate third-down pass towards the end of the 13-11 loss to the Denver Broncos cost the New York Jets a chance at their first win of the season, but it also cost them their best offensive player.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, wide receiver Garrett Wilson is expected to “miss a couple of weeks” with a hyperextended knee.

ESPN’s Jets beat writer, Rich Cimini, provided clarity earlier on Monday, revealing the MRI results were likely trending in the “some down time” direction.
WR Garrett Wilson underwent an MRI today and appears to have avoided a serious knee injury, per source, but it probably still means some down time.
Worth noting that the #Jets have two more games (CAR, at CIN) before their bye. Perhaps that factors into the timetable.

Fields’s top target injured his knee on the play, resulting in his unavailability on the game-ending fourth-and-8 situation. Although the ball was in Wilson’s hands—before falling incomplete—the Jets quarterback threw it incredibly late and behind the out-breaking target.
either justin fields can’t throw or garrett wilson can’t catch, had a play just like this earlier.
reminiscent to the steelers game.

In his fourth professional season, Wilson has yet to miss a game via injury. It’s an incredible feat for any wide receiver in the NFL, but it’s magnified considering Wilson’s more slender stature (listed at 6-foot-0, 183 pounds).
The 0-6 New York Jets turn their attention to Week 7’s home matchup against the 3-3 Carolina Panthers. In Week 8, the Jets head to Cincinnati to take on the struggling Bengals.

If Wilson’s injury only keeps him out for a couple of games, a fan’s best bet of seeing No. 5 again would be Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns, considering the Jets’ bye is in Week 9.
Without Wilson, all eyes turn to the rest of the wide receiver room. If Aaron Glenn has designs on snatching up his first NFL head coaching victory, the likes of Josh Reynolds, Arian Smith, tight end Mason Taylor, and others will have to step up for the offense.
In six games this season, Garrett Wilson currently has 395 yards and 4 touchdowns on 36 receptions (56 targets).
