Former New Orleans Saints All-Pro J.T. Gray is the latest ex-Saint to be reunited with former New Orleans coach Sean Payton with the Denver Broncos. As first reported by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on Monday, the Broncos are signing Gray onto their active roster from the Baltimore Ravens‘ practice squad. Gray had yet to appear in a game with the Ravens this season while recovering from a preseason injury.

An eight-year veteran, Gray was with the Saints for his first seven seasons before being released by New Orleans this preseason. He entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie out of Mississippi State in 2018. From there, he quickly established himself as one of the best special teams contributors in the league. Gray has made one Pro Bowl in that capacity while earning one first-team All-Pro honor (2021) and two second-team All-Pro accolades in 2019 and 2024.

Since Sean Payton became coach of the Broncos in 2023, a mass amount of former Saints players and coaches have joined him. Ex-Saints players currently on the Broncos roster are Adam Trautman, Lucas Krull, Adam Prentice, Michael Burton, Calvin Thockmorton, Malcolm Roach, Jordan Jackson, and Wil Lutz. Denver coaches who used to be with the Saints in some capacity are Joe Lombardi, Zach Strief, Pete Carmichael, Logan Kilgore, Joe Vitt, Todd Davis, Darren Rizzi, Zach Line, and Dan Dalrymple. That pipeline is still open, and Payton is keeping it that way.
