The Minnesota Vikings still have at least 12 games to play in 2025, but there have been some holes on the roster that look like they need to be addressed in the upcoming draft.
This weekend, Bleacher Report looked ahead at the top needs of all 32 team in the 2026 NFL Draft. Interestingly, Bleacher Report believes the Vikings’ top three needs in the draft are all on defense.
In order, they believe the Vikings’ top draft needs are cornerback, defensive line, and safety.
Since this is likely Harrison Smith’s last season in Minnesota–his contract expires in the offseason and he turns 37 in February–safety will likely be one of the team’s draft needs.Â
More specifically, the team could use a deep defender to play next to Theo Jackson and allow Josh Metellus to line up at strong safety or nickelback in Brian Flores’ two-high looks.
Bleacher Report lists Penn State’s Zakee Wheatley, Utah’s Tao Johnson, and Alabama’s Keon Saab as “second-tier” safety fits for the Vikings.
While the Vikings could use help at all three position groups, the Vikings still lead the NFL in EPA allowed per play. If anything, their offense needs more help, as they rank 27th in EPA per play and will likely need a center and a wide receiver.
They could also potentially need a linebacker as well, as Blake Cashman continues to battle injuries and Ivan Pace, Jr. may have too limited of a skillset for Brian Flores’ defense. But with 12 games to go, the list of needs will become clearer.
