After coming away with a dominant victory in Week 6 over the Cleveland Browns, the Pittsburgh Steelers hold an incredibly firm grasp at the top of the AFC North. However, the Steelers don’t appear to be interested in resting on their laurels as we approach the NFL trade deadline.

Sitting at 4-1 on the season, Pittsburgh appears to be a true contender in the AFC with Aaron Rodgers under center, who has brought a level of poise to the quarterback position that was desperately needed.

While things have largely been positive for the Steelers through the first six weeks of the NFL season, there are areas that perhaps need to be improved on if the team is truly going to contend throughout not just the 2025 regular season, but also in the postseason should they make it there.

Thus far, Pittsburgh has won games based on playing mistake free football on offense, turning the ball over just three times all season. However, the actual efficiency of the Steelers’ offense hasn’t exactly been all that stellar, averaging the fourth-least yards in all of football through six weeks.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Steelers will be one of the teams perhaps most active ahead of the NFL trade deadline. In particular, Schefter reported that Pittsburgh will be looking to bring in another wide receiver to help bring a boost to its passing attack.

Schefter didn’t name any players in particular that the Steelers may be interested in. Though interestingly, the team has been linked to New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, with reports emerging last week that the team had reached out to the Saints to see what a potential trade would look like for him.

Whether it is Shaheed or another wide receiver on the market ahead of the trade deadline, a move for a dynamic receiving threat would certainly be a welcome addition for a Steelers team that has essentially been a one-man show at the position thus far.

Outside of DK Metcalf, the Pittsburgh wide receiver room has not been all that impactful thus far this season. Calvin Austin, who continues to nurse a shoulder injury that forced him to miss the team’s Week 6 game, is the only other wide receiver to eclipse 100 receiving yards on the season.

With that in mind, along with Schefter’s report, the Steelers will certainly be an interesting team to watch in the weeks to come as they prepare for their Week 7 road matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, where they will look to further extend their lead in the AFC North.
