Week 6 of the NFL regular season came to a close with 17 Maryland football alumni seeing the field.
Safety Nick Cross continued to play a key defensive role in the early success of the Indianapolis Colts. Cross made five tackles in a 31-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals to continue the Colts’ impressive 5-1 start to the season.
The 24-year-old has had at least five tackles in each of the first six games. He had a high of 14 tackles and half a sack against the Los Angeles Rams three weeks ago, and his steady progression has continued.
His 47 total tackles leads the Colts’ defense and have him tied for 22nd-most in the league. Cross has also seen early season success in run defense. He has a grade of 82 in defending the run, per Pro Football Focus.
Indianapolis sits atop the AFC South and is tied for the best record in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Colts hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Chargers in a Week 7 matchup on Oct. 19.
Week 7 of the NFL season kicks off with the Steelers and Bengals playing Thursday Night Football on Oct. 16.
