When the Giants travel to Denver on Sunday to face the Broncos, one of the most intriguing matchups will be in the trenches.

That would be Andrew Thomas, one of the best left tackles in all of football, lining up against Nik Bonitto.

The Broncos outside linebacker leads the NFL with eight sacks. Collectively, the Broncos have 30 sacks — 10 more than any other team.

Meanwhile, Thomas is the fourth-highest graded offensive tackle by Pro Football Focus among 113 players.

“I know I’m a true competitor and the rest of the guys in the room as well,” Thomas said Monday. “We want to play against the best. Right now, I think the Broncos have the most sacks, the most pressures, so they’re one of the most talented groups up front. So we’re definitely excited for the challenge.”

Thomas said that explosiveness is what stands out first and foremost with the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Bonitto, who was a second-round pick from Oklahoma in 2022 and a Second Team All-Pro selection last season.

“He does a really good job of getting off the ball,” Thomas said. “He has good bend at the top of the rush, but a lot of speed guys, normally they don’t have great power. But what makes him unique is he can power rush as well, so you have to be ready for both.”

Thomas is back to feeling like his old self after a long road back from a Lisfranc injury in his foot.

The 26-year-old underwent surgery last October, then again in April to have the screw removed from the first surgery. He didn’t pass a physical and return to the practice field until late August, so he wasn’t ready to play in a game this season until Week 3.

Thomas played only 28 snaps as he eased back into action against the Chiefs and then upwards of 70 snaps (all of the team’s offensive snaps) in the past three games.

“As a perfectionist, I’m always trying to get better, regardless of what stats may say,” Thomas said. “There’s things in the first few games that I played that I want to clean up, and I’m going to do that to put my team in a good position … some of my run fits, my pad level, my hands in pass pro, and then just finishing plays.”

The 2-4 Giants are currently seven-point underdogs against the 4-2 Broncos. They are coming off their first win on Thursday Night Football in 10 years as they upset the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, 34-17, and have won two of Jaxson Dart’s first three starts at quarterback.

“I can’t lie, it feels great to get a primetime win,” Thomas said. “But the reality is that that’s just one game. If we lost that game, it would be the same mentality moving forward as we’ve got to win the next one. That’s the juice that’s around the building. Obviously, we have confidence that’s building. But you have to go out there and prove it each week.”
